Development and Communications Manager


Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto is a nonprofit offering legal services that improve the lives of low-income families throughout the region. We specialize in immigration, housing, workers’ rights, records clearance, and consumer protection. Our team of attorneys, paralegals, and social worker work side-by-side with low-income communities and partner with community-based organizations, churches, and schools to bring about lasting change. We train and support community members to navigate the legal system and exercise their rights. We achieve our mission using multiple, innovative strategies, including community education, individual legal advice, and representation, legal assistance to community groups, policy advocacy, and impact litigation.
Summary

The Development and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing our fundraising strategy, identifying new funding sources, monitoring existing foundation grants and government contracts, and designing communications and marketing materials that align with our mission and our fundraising goals. The Manager reports to the Deputy Director and directly supervises a development and communications associate and 2 AmeriCorps VISTA Development volunteers. This position is an excellent match for a candidate who is passionate about social justice, with at least 3 years of fundraising experience in a non-profit setting and demonstrated management responsibilities.

Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. PVI
 
Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. (PVI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing programs and services to older adults on the San Francisco Peninsula. PVI aims to serve the whole person, providing food, care, social interaction, physical fitness, and lifelong learning opportunities for a range of capabilities through our 4 program areas. PVI Meals on Wheels is the sole provider of home-delivered meals and wellbeing checks for all of San Mateo County, except the coast-side. Rosener House Adult Day Services provides daytime care for seniors with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and a range of other age-related conditions, and supportive services for family caregivers. Little House Activity Center provides fitness classes, social activities, learning opportunities, artistic endeavors, and technology tutoring geared toward older adults. And Peninsula Volunteers Properties provides the majority of affordable senior housing in Menlo Park.

Summary

PVI is currently on a growth trajectory, having doubled the size of our Meals on Wheels program, renovated and expanded offerings at Little House, and grown capacity at Rosener House to serve additional clients and their families. Over the last two and a half years, we’ve seen donated revenue grow from about $1.1M to $1.6M annually, and plan to continue that growth trend. We know that the population in our community is aging, and that demand for our programs and services is only going to rise with it. As we prepare to embark on our next phase, we are looking for a Development Manager to join a capable and growing team. The ideal candidate is a utility player, and passionate about impacting the lives of the aging for the better. They will be someone who enjoys a new challenge and a variety of types of projects throughout the year. They will enjoy learning and growing their skillset in the role.

Food Services Manager PVI2
Summary

Under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Director, the Food Services Manager performs the following duties in food preparation management: recipe development and modernization, menu planning, preparation and procurement of food/supply items for congregate lunch program, Meals on Wheels, Little House and Rosener House Café’s, and special catering events; responsible for managing kitchen safety and sanitation; assists with staff and volunteer training and performs other duties as assigned.

Meals on Wheels General Office/Program Support PVI3
Summary

As a member of the Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. Meals on Wheels team, the General Office staff performs program support utilizing computer skills, attention to detail, and organizational and interpersonal skills. The General Office staff may serve as the Program’s first point of contact for visitors and callers. Duties include answering telephones, data entry, word processing and working with spreadsheets, as well as, filing and other general office tasks. Position requires exercising independent judgment, initiative, flexibility and excellent interpersonal skills.
