The School of Business and Management is again offering several very popular certificate programs for those interested in gaining or increasing their knowledge in the areas of Human Resources or Employee Development. These are non-degree programs, meaning that you do not get units for them (nor is tuition covered by Financial Aid). They are offered on Saturdays, perfect for working professonals. They are popular for several reasons:
First, if you are interested in a career in Human Resources or Employee Development, these show tangible knowledge that will enhance a resume. They also aware Continuing Education Units, which are important in many of your careers.
Also, the topics are timely for anyone in or wishing to be in a management role. An understanding of either of these topics will enable success in business, government, or nonprofit work.
Finally, the instructor, Jeff Cox, is an expert in these fields and a great teacher; everyone I know who has taken his classes signs up for as many more as they can.
Some partial descriptions:
Human Resource Management Certificate
This certificate program offered by the School of Business and Management addresses the “best practices” in this demanding field through an up-to-date evidence-based management approach to program development. The program is taught over four Saturdays with a one-week break in between classes, a format that has been very successful for working individuals. Students have the option of registering for an additional two-week session to receive an International Human Resource Management Certificate.
The program is designed for those looking at a career in HR, for managers who want to understand how to effectively manage their employees, and for senior managers who want to understand their HR responsibilities and how to create and monitor effective HR systems.
International HR Management Certificate
Students also have the option of adding the International HR Management Certificate course. This program will provide an overview of international human resource management concepts and recent developments in the field, and will discuss identification and understanding of basic cultural concepts critical to managing performance and creating organizational efficiency.
Leadership and Performance Coaching Certificate
This certificate program offered by the School of Business and Management uses an evidence-based approach to understanding how to maximize leadership and management coaching performance through the use of scientific, objective, data-driven approaches to decision-making that lead to creating an agile organization that reinforces continuous improvement.
The program is designed for those who want to go beyond just theories of leadership and to instead look at the science of leadership and coaching employee performance based on research that shows managers how to fully engage employees through specific actions on a daily basis.
